Start a fire: yes, fires are hot. No one is denying that. That doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with them. Fires were the original source of fun. Before fires where did people gather around to tell stories? Deep, deep holes. Thousands died sitting on the edge of this bottomless hole, kicking their legs back and forth, telling stories about ancient wars. They fell into the deep abyss, their screams echoing like the clash of steel swords from the wars they spun tales of. If you were ever sitting around a fire and heard tales of young men and women succumbing to the appetite of the Great Hole, this, or the Sarlaac Pit from Return of the Jedi is what they were talking about. A fire is ultimately not only safer but also adds atmospheric lighting.
Dismantle an Old Wagon: Wagon’s as many people know, are transportation machines from the early days. No electricity required for these bad boys! Simply grab a wrench, find a nut/bolt/etc. and twist. It’s fun and safe, and a great use of your time, unless the power never returns, which then means you needlessly took apart a transportation machine not enslaved to the great yellow charge known as electricity. This however is a one in ten chance. With those odds, you can bet it’s worth it to dismantle an old wagon to pass the time. Trust me, it is a great use of your time, especially if you are dismantling it around a fire.
Hunt Other Bored Families: As I’ve mentioned in another post “The Most Dangerous Game”, hunting other humans is a great way to spend your time. It is not only legal, but encouraged by the US government. Hunting bored families, believe it or not (and you will believe it, I’ve spent a lot of time on this argument) is actually more exciting and challenging than hunting entertained families. Families who are bored are more aware of their surroundings and thus harder to hunt. Think of it like this: If you are doing something you enjoy, you are focused on that thing, rather than the entire environment around you. When you are bored, your attention is unoccupied and can respond better to any potential environmental stimulus. Thus if you decide to hunt your fellow man, make sure you are on point, or else you will end up on one.
